Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of physical hands on therapy. It loosens joint restrictions and muscle tightness to enable the body to move as it should, and prevent further injury. Our Osteopaths apply this using muscle soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisation, medical acupuncture and exercise prescription The aim is to assist the body’s own healing response and to eliminate pain. Osteopathy is not just for backs, but for all parts of your body. Every treatment is unique to the patients requirements.

On Your First Treatment:

Arrive in comfortable clothes. You will have an initial discussion with your Osteopath about why you need to see them, then after taking your case history, your Osteopath will request that you remove any outer clothing (or whatever you are comfortable with) to allow them to examine you. We will then ask you to undertake a series of movements, or we will manoeuvre your body to gain an understanding of what is causing you the pain or discomfort. Once we are satisfied, and have a diagnosis, we can then perform your treatment. This treatment procedure normally lasts 45 minutes to an hour. Follow-up treatments are 30 minutes long.
